DOWNPATRICK 2000 -
OVERVIEW
The Answer formed in the Summer of 2000. Almost immediately, the band took to the stage with their first gig just two weeks after their frist rehearsal. The guys started firing out great rock tunes on the scale of Free and Deep Purple and soon after, the Downpatrick based four-piece recorded the 3 song 'Breakdown Honey' E.P. which was produced by the Papenfus Brothers of Relish. The CD was awarded Single of the Week in the Dublin Evening Herald and a great review in Hot Press and from then on there was no turning back.

The band continued to gig and quickly realised that in the Live show there was something truly great happening. Over the next few months they created a stir among music fans, bands and promoters in Belfast. The release of the 'End Your Day on a High' E.P. set The Answer apart from any other band in the country, as they were the first to get major radio play on stations that otherwise up until this time had ignored unsigned local acts. As such, 'Tonight' and 'Always' were added to the play-list of Cool FM, City Beat and several stations in southern Ireland.

Once again The Answer set off touring the length and breadth of Ireland playing 52 gigs across the country in 2003 alone. With the success of the first two releases came performances at Ireland's most prestigious outdoor event, the Witnness Festival in the summer of 2002 and 2003 along with a nomination as Best Irish Rock Band at the Big Buzz Awards in September 2003.

More recently the 'Come On, Free Me!' E.P. has received widespread critical acclaim for the band and has been heard on radio as far away as Chicago and Melbourne. It has been praised by the likes of Steve Lamacq (Radio 1) and Malcolm Dome (Total Rock Radio) and has had the phones ringing off the hook in County Down with interest from promoters, agents, publishers and record companies big and small.
