DAINGEAN, CO. OFFALY 2002 -
OVERVIEW
Dave’s Radio are three young men from the middle of Ireland . The band, featuring David Peyton on Vocals and Guitar, Rob Maguire on Bass and Brian Lynch on Drums, hail from the midlands and have spent the last two years building up to the release of the single which will be followed in May with their album “U-Turn”. Having spent 2004 gigging extensively around the country, it didn’t take long for others to sit up and take note of the band’s live shows and original sounds. With a driving rhythm section as the backbone of their music, David Peyton’s soaring voice and melodic playing have lead critics to describe the band as “a breath of fresh air” and “just what the Irish music industry needs”. Comparisons don’t come easy and the band has a sound that is truly unique. Their music is soulful, intense, energetic and full of emotion. Things started to hot up in 2005, when Thomas Black (EMI) described them as one of the best bands he’d seen in years and took them to the UK where they worked with Polydor and legendary producer Steve Osbourne (New Order, Placebo, Suede, KT Tunstall), who likened them to a cross between The Stooges and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Although working within the confines of a major label was a great learning experience for the band, they decided to take affairs into their own hands and returned to Ireland. 2006 was split between the completion of their debut album in Offaly and continued gigging around the country, gearing up towards what promises to be a very busy 2007 for the band. Daves Radio take to the road having just confirmed an Irish tour in January/February to co-inside with the release of their debut single "Kids". Having played with many major acts including Avril Lavigne, The Frames, Shane MacGowan and at The Electric Picnic they are a band not to be missed and can count Dave Fanning and Tom Dunne among their existing fans. They play numerous dates around the country including a performance in Whelan’s on the 1st of February.
