WATERFORD 2006 -
OVERVIEW
The Distractions are a Waterford based 3-piece who finally came together in February 2006 through a shared love of Supergrass, The Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and Motown.

The three members; Shane Barry - vocals/guitar/keys; Stephen Mahon - bass/vocals; and John Daly - drums/vocals, have been playing together for years in a variety of guises.

Taking the melodic instincts of McCartney, the rhythm stylings of the Jam and the Police, and the attitude of the Smashing Pumpkins, the band have settled on a template that is well and truly their own.

The Distractions have spent the last few months touring their energetic live shows and recording tracks for their first e.p.
In their various inceptions the band has supported the likes of Hal, Whipping Boy, Mundy and 10 Speed Racer.

The Distractions myspace address (myspace.com/thedistractionsrock) has found itself in entertainment.ie's top ones to watch. And more recently the Distractions have independently released their self funded debut e.p. The mastering of which has been overseen by Streaky, who's previous clients have included Snow Patrol, Groove Armada and the White Stripes.
