DUBLIN | LA [USA] 2009 -
OVERVIEW
Friends Of Emmet are a group with their roots in Dublin but who now split their time between Los Angeles and their hometown. The group, which formed in 2009, features a line up of Mark Leddy [Vocals & Piano], Brian Lynam [Guitar], Tim Boland [Guitar & Keyboards], Keith Geraghty [Bass Guitar] and Gary Sullivan [Drums]. All of the members were experienced musicians in their own right before becoming Friends Of Emmet. Gary has drummed with bands like Firewater Creed, Engine Alley and (sic). Brian started out playing in bands like Slaine when he was a teenager. He played with many others including Against The Storm. Brian then went on to play with a group called The Cage which featured Mark Leddy and Keith Geraghty. In the 1980s, Keith had played with a band called The Conspiracy.

The band recorded and released single 'Coming Apart' in response to the Kevin Hynes, a teenager who tried to take his own life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. The track broached the subjects of depression, desperation and suicidal tendencies - something increasingly relevant to the youth of the day. The song would later appear on the soundtrack of shows such as Hollyoaks, Eastenders and Jersey Shore.

The band released its debut album, 'State Of Mind' in March 2014. The album peaked at #6 in the Irish album charts on the 28 March. The band has gone on to release a number of other singles and EPs but I doubt if any of them have had the same impact as 'Coming Apart'. The whole area of desperation and depression still remains very close to the band's heart. The band is supportive of the work of Pieta House and regularly perform at the benefit nights.
