| OVERVIEW Geoffrey's First Affair was a short-lived pop/R&B band based in Dublin. The group was formed by Ed Darragh [aka Adrienne Darragh] and John McCrea in 1986. Ed had been a mainstay on the Irish music scene for many years, having performed with the likes of Boy Scoutz, Modernaires and Toy With Rhythm. Later that year, the Ed and John were joined in the band by Hughie Purcell. The band very quickly went on to win the Q102 Battle Of The Bands. The band recorded its one and only single with Larry Mullen of U2 at the helm in Windmill Lane Studios. The single, 'And The Days Go By' was released in or around September 1986 on Solid Records. This was the first release on the famous label. In 1997, Geoffrey's First Affair was brought to an abrupt end when her family was the victim in a terrorist kidnapping. In the aftermath, Ed and her family were put under police protection and retired from public life. Since then, she has returned to working in radio and has performed on occasion.
