198x - 1990

OVERVIEW Giant was a Dublin-based indie -pop band which was active during the latter part of the 1980s. Formed out of the ashes of Dump The Dummy, the band was influenced by the likes of The Smiths, Echo And The Bunneymen and Blondie. The line up included Niamh McDonald [Vocals], Ken Haughton [Guitar], Joe McDonnell [Bass Guitar], Ronan Buckley [Drums], Susan Kavanagh [Backing Vocals]. The band released its debut (and only) single in 1989. The lead track was entitled 'Put Yourself In My Shoes' which was backed with 'Bittersweet'. In about 1990, the band morphed in to Passion Parade. Susan joined A-House around this time. Ken went on to perform with Sack. Later on, Niamh linked up with former A-House man, Martin Healy, to form AV8. That band later changed its name to The Sweet Hereafter. Subsequently, Niamh sang with The Mosquitoes. 198x - Band formed 1989 - Release of 'Put Yourself In My Shoes' single 1990 - Giant morphs in to Passion Parade
