2004 -

OVERVIEW Hope Is Noise came into existence as a band in 2004. However, the four members had been playing together in various guises since the late 1990s, firstly as Arcane, then The Terranauts and later as The New Messiahs. When the latter came to an end in 2005, Dan Breen [Vocals & Guitar], Pat Gillen [Bass Guitar], Joe Jolley [Guitar] and Louis Angelini [Drums] formed Hope Is Noise. The band recorded a debut EP, 'Words To Burn You' with Robbie Sexton [Blink]. The EP was released in April 1995. Since then, Hope Is Noise has gone on to release a further EP, 'The Worm Has Turned' [2006] as well as two full length albums - ''Applaud Friends ... The Comedy Is Over' [2007] and 'Under Friendly Fire' [2009]. Dan has also found time to work with another Cork outfit, El Bastardo. Since 2008, both Dan and Joe have been performing with the excellent Slow Motion Heroes. In March 2012, Hope Is Noise released a new album, 'This Used To Be A Laugh'. Over the course of 2015 and early 2016, the band recorded its new album in Wood Street Studio in Cork City.
