1990 -

OVERVIEW Brian Kennedy is a well known Irish pop singer. Born in Belfast, Brian has been involved with music since an early age. He started his musical career as part of Van Morrison's band appearing on albums such as 'A Night In San Francisco', 'Back On Top' and 'Days Like These'. In 1990, he released his debut single 'Captured'. This was soon followed by his first album, 'The Great War Of Words'. This early work had a haunting, mystical feel. However, since this initial release, he has adopted a more mainstream pop sound. He has since released a string of albums including 'A Better Man', 'Now That I Know What I Want' and 'Get On With Your Short Life'. 'A Better Man' marked the most successful period of Brian's career spawning singles such as 'Life Love And Happiness', 'Put The Message In The Box' and 'A Better Man'. All three singles entered the UK Top 40. In 2006, Brian was selected to represent Ireland at the annual Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. Singing his own composition, 'Every Song Is A Cry For Love', Brian finished in tenth place.
