CAVAN | DUBLIN 2010 -
OVERVIEW
Kate's Party is a Dublin-based indie-rock band. The group was originally formed as Cute & Sexy by Sarah Corcoran and Niamh Hanley. The pair later adopted the name Kate's Party after the infamous Australian Facebook event. Before long, the band had recorded a 4-track demo which included 'Can't Versus Won't', 'Explosions', 'Who We Were' and 'Picture Me'. The band released their 'Heartbreak Song' single in March 2011. The girls decided to add additional elements to the group's sound - signal the entry of Stephen Hughes [Drums] and Stephen Lyons [Bass Guitar].

Stephen Hughes then decided to return to full time education. He was replaced on drums by Fiach O'Brien on a temporary basis. He later joined the ranks of Kate's Party on a full time basis. Next up for the group was the release of their first full EP. Entitled 'Back Down', 5-track collection featured 'Clement's Time', 'Explosions', 'Go Lucky', 'Rachel McAdams' and 'Heartbreak Song'.

Kate's Party spend much of 2013 working on their debut album. At the end of the year, Stephen Lyons decided to move to London. After his departure, Fiach and Niamh took up bass duties on an interim basis. The band entered the studio in February to record the album. A month later, they welcomed their new bassist, Conor McGrath.

The band's debut album, 'Hollow' on 29th March 2014. The band recorded a version of No Doubt's 'Just A Girl' for the 'Record Store Gay 2014' compilation which was released to coincide with International Record Store Day. A year later and it was Regina Spektor's 'You've Got Time' which was covered for the 'Record Store Gay 2015' collection.

In August 2015, the band released 'My Other Girlfriend' EP which featured a number of new tracks - 'Crumbs', 'Strong Words' and 'Chrysalis'.
