KILCOOLE, CO. WICKLOW | 1998 - 2009 |
OVERVIEW Kidd Blunt was a post-punk band from Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow. The group was formed in 1998. Stephen Hughes [Drums & Percussion], Turlough Fortune [Guitar] and Eoin Whitfield [Vocals & Guitar] had been performing together as Breakdown. James Flanagan [Bass Guitar] joined the trio and Kidd Blunt was formed. However, James' tie with the band was to be short-lived. He had left within 2 years and was replaced on bass by Luke Henry. In January 2002, Kidd Blunt released its debut EP, '82' as a run of 500. After a period of inactivity, the band decided to team up with Puget Sound for a split release album - with each group contributing four tracks. Kidd Blunt's contributions were 'Peprose Fellows', 'Pearl Rain', 'Midnight Juice' and 'Dr, Hughes Is Off The Booze'. In July 2005, the band toured Norway and Sweden A promo CD of this tour is in circulation. Following the tour, Luke left the band. Luke was replaced by James Eager. In January 2006, the band performed at Ballroom Of Romance #49. Later that year, the band's first proper album 'Grey, Black, Grey' was released. By 2009, however, the band had run its course. They bowed out with a gig in Whelans on 21st August. Ironically, this gig also doubled as an launch party for the band's final album, 'The Flood'. Since the split, Eoin has gone on to perform with Enemies. 1998 - Band formed 2002 - Release of '82' EP [January] 2004 - Release of 'Puget Sound / Kidd Blunt' split album 2006 - Kidd Blunt perform at Ballroom Of Romance #49 [21 January] 2009 - Release of 'The Flood' album [21 August] - Band split [21 August] |
