| OVERVIEW Kíla was formed in 1987 in the Irish Language secondary school, Coláiste Eoin in Co. Dublin. 1987 - Band formed in Coláiste Eoin. The original line up included Eoin Dillon, Colm MacConIomaire, Rossa Ó'Snodaigh, Rónán Ó Snodaigh, Karl Odlum, Dave Odlum 1991 - Colm MacConIomaire and Dave Odlum leave to join The Frames. Dee Armstrong joins on Fiddle and Dave Reidy and Eoin O'Brien join on guitar. 1992 - Dave Reidy leaves the band. 1993 - Release of 'Handel's Fantasy' album - Karl Odlum leaves to concentrate on The Mary Janes. Ed Kelly joins on Bass Guitar 1994 - Brian Hogan joins as a temporary replacement for Ed Kelly who is suffering from tendonitis. Eoin O'Brien and Ed Kelly leave the band. Eoin Dillon wants to leave too and moves to Donegal. 1995 - Release of 'Mind The Gap' album - Lance Hogan joins the band. Laurence O'Keefe joins on Bass. 1996 - Laurence moves to London and Brian Hogan joins the band on a permanent basis. 1997 - Release of 'Tóg É Go Bog É' album - Release of 'Ón Taobh Tuathail Amach' single. The single reaches Number 24 in the Irish Charts. 1999 - n/a 2000 - Release of 'Lemonade And Buns' album [04 April] 2002 - Kila win the Meteor Music Award for Best Traditional Music Act 2003 - Release of 'Luna Park' album [22 May] 2004 - Release of 'Live In Dublin' album [22 October] 2006 - Release of 'Kíla And Oki' album [21 July] - Release of 'h'Aon Dó' single 2007 - Release of 'Half Eight / Leath Ina Dhiadh A Hocht' single - Release of 'Gambler's Ballet' album [10 August] 2008 - 'Gambler's Ballet' is nominated for the Choice Music Prize [January] - Kila are nominated in the Best Irish Folk Traditional category in the Meteor Ireland Music Awards. 2010 - Release of 'Soisín' album [05 February] |
