OVERVIEW Kitsch Is Rich was a powerpop band formed in Derry in the mid-1980s. The line up included Colum McKeever [Vocals & Guitar], Tony Morrison [Guitar & Vocals], Paul Edwards [Bass Guitar & Vocals] and Tommy Alford [Drums]. The band emerged onto a vibrant Derry music scene at the time which also included the likes of That Petrol Emotion and Bam Bam & The Calling. Kitsch Is Rich won the Smithwicks Rock & Pop Award in 1985 before deciding to relocate to Belfast in 1986. The move was designed to further the band's career and this was partially successful. They played the Sense Of Ireland Festival in London that year before recording a session for Radio Foyle and making a TV appearance. However, by the end of that year, the band had split.
