BALLYCOTTON, CO. CORK 201x -
OVERVIEW
Kudos are Cork born sisters Sophie and Laura O'Keeffe. While the pair now call the island of St. Helena home (St. Helena is a remote island in the South Atlantic Ocean), they grew up in the village of Ballycotton in East Cork. They grew up in a musical household - their parents, Niall and Aine, had been in band called Sonic Icons during the 2000s. The girls inherited their parents musical talents with both of them being proficient piano players while Sophie also plays guitar. Both girls are talented vocalists. In their early days, the girls tended to perform individually. The pair credit one of their teachers, Hannah Dennehy, with encouraging them to perform together. Little did she know that she had set them on a path to stardom. Kudos went on to win the All Ireland Duets Competition in Dublin.

Over the years the girls have refined their sound. They create dreamy, breezy pop songs - and I mean that as a compliment. The songs are simply constructed but beautifully performed.

While Kudos have used their social media presence to share videos for a number of tracks ['Pass Another Glass' and 'Empty Sea'] throughout 2018, their first proper single, 'Monday From Hell' was released on 21st January 2019 - Blue Monday [The day which is considered the most depressing of the year]. The girls then launched their debut album, 'Perfect' on 08 February. They celebrated the release of the album with a gig at The White Horse in Ballincollig, Cork. The record was mastered by Pete Maher who has also worked with the likes of Katy Perry, U2, Lana Del Rey and Oasis. The record's unique cover was drawn by fellow Ballycotton native, Will Sliney, who has worked with Marvel. The cover shows the girls as superheroines. The record itself contains 10 tracks in total, albeit it with two versions of 'Monday From Hell'. Other tracks include 'Dangerous', 'Who Knows', and 'Sometimes'.
