OVERVIEW
Nomos was a Cork-based folk-rock group which was active throughout the 1990s. The group was formed in 1990 in University College Cork by a group of friends from around the country. The original lineup of the band featured Niall Vallely [Concertina & Keyboards], Liz Doherty [Fiddle], Gerry McKee [Bouzouki], Frank Torpey [Bodhrán] and John Spillane [Vocals & Guitar]. John had been playing with jazz band, Stargazers. Liz was later replaced on fiddle by Vince Milne. Eoin Coughlan also join the band on vocals and bass guitar.

The band built a strong reputation and following within the traditional musical circles around the country. Nomos released its debut single 'All The Ways You Wander' in 1995. The band released two albums during its career - 'I Won't Be Afraid Anymore' in 1996 and 'Set You Free' in 1997.

After the band split in 2000, the various members went on to successful musical careers. John went solo and has released a string of successful albums including 'Hey Dreamer' and 'My Dark Rosaleen And The Island Of Dreams'. Eoin Coughlan also launched a solo career, releasing his debut solo album, 'Blood In Vein' in 2007. Niall Vallely went solo ad also found time to perform with Buile.
