OVERVIEW National Prayer Breakfast or NPB was an alternative garage-rock band based in Dublin. The line up included Patrick Freyne [Vocals & Guitar], Paul Clancy [Drums], Daragh Keogh and Pól O'Conghaile. Their sound was described as garage-country-rock. During its lifetime, the band released three acclaimed albums - 'The Sociables Prefer Pop Music' [2000], 'This Is My Happening And It XXXXXX Me Up' [2001] and 'Let's Work It Out' [2004]. These long players were supported by a string of singles including 'Feeding Frenzy', 'Popsong' and 'Sadder Day Blues'. The band split sometime in the mid-noughties after the relase of the 'Let's Work It Out' album. Freyne and O'Conghaile went on to work together again in El Diablo who recorded two albums of alt-country music. Freyne the went on to form Patrick Freyne & His Bad Intentions. More recently, he can be found writing fror Hot Press. O'Conghaile has also pursued a career in journalism. Paul Clancy had been about to release his debut solo album, under the Clancy moniker, when he died unexpectedly in early 2010.
