2001 - 2006

OVERVIEW Polar was formed in 2001, at a time when some of the band members were sitting their Leaving Certifcate exams. The line up featured Gavin Farrell [Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards & Piano], Andrew Carew [Bass Guitar & Keyboards], Terence Martin [Drums, Xylophone & Keyboards] and Michael O'Connell [Guitars & Piano]. The band were soon ensconced in the studio and recording tracks. The first fruits of these sessions was the 'South' Promotional CD which was made available from their website in 2002. In early 2003, the band independently released their debut EP, 'Butterflies' which garnered a positive response from the press. The band released further singles 'Bite Your Nails' [2005] and 'Music To Cross The Road To' [2006]. About this time, the band felt a change was required and they renamed themselves Pilotlight and moved to London. 2001 - Band formed 2003 - Release of 'Butterflies' EP [28 November] 2005 - Release of 'Bite Your Nails' single 2006 - Release of 'Music To Cross The Road To' single - Polar decide to rebrand themselves as Pilotlight and relocate to London
