| OVERVIEW Pugwash is the stage name for Thomas Walsh, a gifted singer-songwriter from Dublin. He is joined in the band by a regular set of collaborators including Keith Farrell, Aidan O'Grady, John Boyle and Stephen Farrell. Thomas has been making music since the mid-90s. However, it wasn't until 1999 that he really announced himself on the scene with the relase of the 'Almond Tea' album on Vélo Records. He has since gone on to release four further albums - 'Almanac' [2002], 'Jollity' [2005], 'Eleven Modern Antiquities' [2008] and 'The Olympus Sound' [2011]. He is widely regarded of one of the mosted gifted songwriters of his generation. His work is often compared to the likes of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, XTC and The Kinks. While Walsh is quick to distance himself from such comparisons, they are not without foundation. In 2009, Walsh teamed up with Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy to form The Duckworth Lewis Method. The duo was brought together by their mutual love of the sport of cricket. The name they adopted, The Duckworth Lewis Method, is a reference to a mathematical way to calculate the target score for the team batting second in a one-day cricket match interrupted by weather or other circumstances. The pair released a self-titled album in July 2009. Also in 2009, the band penned a five year deal with Ape House Records. This gave rise to the release of 'Giddy', which was a compilation of tracks from Pugwash's first four albums. Walsh then set to work on recording the material which would become 'The Olympus Sound'. 1999 - Release of debut album 'Almond Tea' 2000 - Release of 'Finer Things In Life' single 2002 - Release of 'Apples' single [April] - Release of 'Almanac' album [21 June] - Duncan leaves the band [December] 2003 - Release of 'Earworm' compilation album.
