| OVERVIEW The Rags joined forces some time ago as a sextet of individuals drawn from some of the better north-side acts. Rather than typically rushing out on to the live scene with their first batch of songs, the band chose to seclude themselves in their self-made recording and practice space in order to refine their song-craft and musicianship. Their intensive 6-night-a-week work ethic has led to over 50 compositions being recorded and mixed by the band themselves. After hearing a CD-R of 4 such tracks in early 2004, an acclaimed industry panel representing Senior College Ballyfermot hand-picked The Rags as the preferred beneficiaries of the college's annual CD release scheme. The resulting E.P "Me and the moon" became the band's debut, and the series of live shows that accompanied the release has generated considerable excitement amongst regular Dublin gig-goers and industry representatives alike. Hotpress magazine awarded the release 'Single of the Fortnight' and a clearly impressed Phil Udell suggested: "Few new Irish bands arrive as seemingly perfect as The Rags...on this showing we might have a real little wonder on our hands". The Sunday Independant picked up on the release too, claiming "The Rags are one of the hottest and most exciting new acts to hit the Irish music scene in a long time." 2004 - Release of 'Me And The Moon' E.P.
