DUBLIN | 1983 - 198x |
OVERVIEW Those Handsome Devils was a 1980s rockabilly band based in Dublin. Founding members Sean Foy [Guitar & Vocals] and Pat Harte [Bass Guitar] had started busking together on Grafton Street in 1983. The group originally performed as Crazy Times. Leo O'Regan formerly of Yeah! Yeah! soon joined the band on drums and the outfit became known as Those Handsome Devils. The band's number increased with the addition of Frank Rynne on guitar. O'Regan was replaced behind the drum kit by John Bonnie [ex-The End]. Rynne and Bonnie soon left the group and formed The Baby Snakes. Pat Larkin [ex-The Blades], Niall Toner Jr. [ex-The Dixons] and Mitchell O'Connor are also understood to have played with the band for periods. The band released two singles during its career. The first of these, 'Hep Bop' was released in 1984 on Souterrain Records. The lead track was backed with 'Boy Meets Girl'. The second, and final, single followed in 1987. Released on Solid Records, 'Don't Bring Me Down' was another fine slice of rockabilly. In 1996, the band's track 'Love Ain't Such A Bad Thing' appeared on 'The Sham Rocks!' compilation. In more recent times, Sean Foy has been performing as a solo artist. 1983 - Band formed 1984 - Release of 'Hep Bop' single 1987 - Release of 'Don't Bring Me Down' single SONGS '24 Hours (A Minute)', 'Boy Meets Girl', 'Concrete Blues', 'Don't Bring Me Down', 'Hep Bop', 'Johnny Cynic', 'Lonesome Train', 'Love Ain't Such A Bad Thing', 'What I Say' |
