| OVERVIEW Tigwara is a Limerick-based alternative rock group. Formed in about 2013, the group is built around a core trio of Mark Hogan [Lead Vocals & Acoustic Guitar], Luke Brennan [Lead Guitar & Vocals] and Jamie Kelly [Bass Guitar & Strings]. The band has also featured Dillon Reid [Keys & Synths] and a string of drummers - Chris Janes, Fionn O'Donohoe and Brian Gunnigan. The band's sound is hard to pinpoint but that's probably because Tigwara's sound continues to evolve. The band released it's debut single, 'New Day Rises' in September 2013. The track, produced by Darrl Cazzabon, introduced the world to Mark Hogan's deep soulful voice. The backdrop to the track had a strong electronic, sometimes near trippy, feeling. By the time, the band released it's debut EP in 2016, Tigwara sounded like a more straight up group. This is probably reflective of the membership of the group at that time. While there have been no new releases since then, the band is still active with new material rumoured. Time will if they can build on their early promise. Dillon Reid now plies his trade with Limerick electronica outfit Kodu. 2013 - Band formed - Release of 'New Day Rises' single [07 September] 2016 - Release of 'Tigwara' EP [28 January] |
