| DUBLIN | 1981 - 1985 |
| OVERVIEW Toy With Rhythm was an electro-pop band from Dublin. The outfit was formed in 1981 by Adrienne 'Ed' Darragh [ex Boy Scoutz and Modernaires]. This original lineup also featured vocalist Flo McSweeney and drummer Brian Despard [ex Jimi Slevin Band]. The early signs were very positive with the band winning the 1983 Maxell Star Award. This led to the release of the 'Junior Discovers Electricity' single later that year. However, this did not perform as well as expected. By the end of the year, Flo had left the lineup and joined Les Enfants. Further lineup changes followed. Amongst these was Suzanne Rhatigan who had previously performed with Fifth Avenue. A second and final single, 'Cartoon Hero' was released in 1984 before the group split the following year. Adrienne went on to form Geoffrey's First Affair. Suzanne joined Les Enfants before released a solo album. She also released further records as part of punk-pop outfit Rhatigan. 1981 - Band formed 1983 - The band wins the Maxell Star Award - Release of 'Junior Discovers Electricity' single - Flo McSweeney leaves the band 1984 - Release of 'Cartoon Hero' single 1985 - Band splits |
