OVERVIEW Túcan is an instrumental guitar band from Sligo. The group originally came together in 1999 as a duo of Donal Gunne and Pearse Feeney, The pair started playing live in about 2003. Their sound is a mixture of classical fused with rock and even heavy metal. They honed their sound by spending their Summers busking across Europe. They eventually settled for a period in Prague. They returned to Ireland to finish their studies before fully launching themselves into the word of music. Through a support slot with Kíla, the band met Lance Hogan and asked him to produce their debut EP. The result was 'Systems Of A String' which was released in 2006 and featured 'Karluv Most', 'Dart', 'Gypsy Thing', and 'Indian Harmony. The band also used Lance to produce their debut album, 'Aliquot Strings' which followed in 2009. The long player included the four tracks from the earlier EP as well as five new tracks including 'Garavogue' and 'Bubbles'. It was also around this time, that the band expanded its lineup. Sligo natives Paul Wehrly and Keith Kelly were asked to join on drums and bass guitar respectively. Keith has since been replaced by Odhran Devlin.
