King Tut's, Glasgow Blaht
Sarah September 2000
We're here mainly to see Bellatrix. As Irish lads Turn rocket into their set, it's clear that everyone else has as well - except the lone die-hard down the front. Quite amusing to watch him mosh with the empty spaces surrounding him. Everyone else sits or stands around the edges. But as the unwavering enthusiasm of Ollie's voice screams for attention amidst resounding electric guitar, a few heads start to bob in time, feet tap and generally we are hit with the realisation that this band aren't half bad. In fact, musically, they blow Bellatrix right offstage. Ollie takes a break mid-set to inform the audience of his current state: "totally out of it". Tres rock 'n' roll. It's not until closer "Too Much Make-up" that any energy goes into the aesthetic performance, but hey, they ended on a high. Literally (Ollie was still completely stoned post-gig).
