Cormac Battle’s guitars and vocals haven't
come along way since the days of Kerbdog.
What I found about this debut offering was
the bands tendency to sound like a jumped
up American band.
Commercially the music is more mainstream
than that of Kerbdog, but then that's maybe
why Kerbdog failed. In this leap towards
new success the band seem to have lost their
purpose or musical intent. Ronan McHugh’s
production is clean and crisp but the album
is still terribly uninspired. Cormac Battle’s
selling point to the album was "It cost
a ridiculously small amount of money to do.
We have a different attitude to music from
when we were young kids, as you can probably
hear."
Bastinado however has its moments and is
pleasant to listen to with some catchy tracks.
It's just a shame to see Wilt release an
album that is unenthusiastic in an attempt
to be over commercial when they could have
done so much more.
