Radio Disco Mushroom

Fresh from their massively successful Irish tour, Dublin trio 'Wilt' (ex - Kerbdog) release their latest single 'Radio Disco' as a precursor to their forthcoming album 'Bastinado', due for release later this year.

Another superb release of guitar-driven power pop in the vein of Bob Mould's 'Sugar', Radio Disco shows off Cormac Battle's ability to combine melody with sheer energy - placing him high in the league of the most talented yet undervalued frontmen in pop today.

With tunes as strong as this, It'll only be a matter of time before Wilt are raking in the bucks. Check them out for yourself this Thursday at Clwb Ifor Bach with 'Seafood' and 'Turn'. First 50 through the door get a free CD featuring all 3 bands.

The sad demise of Cormac Battle's previous band, Kerbdog, left both him and an army of fans completely disillusioned. Not one to take things lying down, Battle dusted off his guitar and from the ashes of Kerbdog formed Wilt.

After witnessing them live at Clwb Ifor Bach earlier this year, I'd say any former battle scars (again, no pun intended!) are fading well - Wilt are on great form. Their songs are a kind of slightly mellower Sugar/Husker Du, with splendid hooks.

Those of you who missed out on their last gig in Wales can check them out on Friday 26 May at Swansea's Rocket, or at Bristol's Fleece and Firkin on Wednesday 7 June.

Noisy guitar pop with that trademark chakka-chakka-chakka-crash! break beloved of mosh-pits the world over. Lovely vocal harmonies save this from being run of the mill, and though I hadn't heard from this bunch before I'll be keeping an ear out. Interesting.
