Sorry Skin E.P. Parlophone

Dear me! Melodic, considered, romantic pop music? Beach Boy harmonies and soaring choruses? Whispered vocals that sing just for you? Intelligent, dreamy lyrics? It's all here and then some. Woodstar are Limerick's revenge for years of abuse. How do you get your own back? Do it better than anyone else does. Equal parts Big Star, Beach Boys, Beatles and Bacharach, the interesting thing here is that this band sound far more competent and cohesive than they should, given their short time together. The kind of release I instantly take over to the HP Art Department saying, 'You gotta hear this!'
Suicide Way Wet Clay

Limerick band Woodstar make perky indie music, which isn't a million miles away from that of Grandaddy or Pavement. 'Suicide Way' is no different, but while it's jaunty and whimsical it has no real attitude to it and suffers from dated production techniques at the beginning. But it's not all bad : b-side'Life Sparks Red Flame' is a sweet and laidback ballad which sounds like Lambchop at their best.
