| OVERVIEW The Word was a rock-pop based in Dublin. The group was active for a relatively short period at the end of the 1980s and the start on the 1990s. The band's line up included Nick Russell [Vocals], Ronan O'Hanlon [Guitar], David Beckett [Drums], and Liam Nugent [Bass Guitar]. Ronan had previously performed with well known band Les Enfants. The group signed with Mother Records with whom they released 4 singles between 1989 and 1992. The first of these was 'Kiss The Ground' released in 1989. The second single, and perhaps the band's best known song, 'Love's Starange Ways' followed later that year. Around this time, the band was chosen to perform on the '7 Bands On The Up' series of concerts which were then broadcast on RTE television. The Word went on to release two further singles 'Victoria' and 'Move Along' before the project came to an end. Nothing is known about what happened to the band members post The Word. 1989 - Release of 'Kiss The Ground' single - Release of 'Love's Strange Ways' single 1990 - Release of 'Victoria' single 1992 - Release of 'Move Along' single |
